Initially opened in 2018, The State Theatre Studio lacked full accessibility and modifications that could tap into its potential. However, post-renovation in 2021, the space was upgraded to be entirely ADA-compliant, allowing more diverse programming and audience engagement. “We started using it primarily for educational programming like our Milk & Cookies series for young audiences,” explains Sarah K. Chaplin, the theatre’s president and CEO. “But we knew the space's vibey ambiance would lend itself to more intimate concerts.”
A Growing Spectrum of Shows
This year, the theatre is doubling down on its commitment to provide intimate experiences with artists. Through its new concert series, such as the Sound Studio Rock Concerts and the Classical Series, attendees are offered a chance to connect closely with performers. The Sound Studio Rock Concerts launched a few months ago, showcasing talents like Always Now, and will culminate with Adoraborealis later in May. Classical music enthusiasts will also have something to celebrate with performances like The X Ensemble.
